Ryan Blaney wins race at Richmond

Ryan Blaney was the pole position holder at Richmond Raceway. He led all 70 laps during Stage 1 of his race and finished seventh. Blaney has now led at most one lap in each of his eight first races this season. He also earned a Stage 1 playoff point. The victory put Blaney in first place in the series point standings, and moves him to the top spot. The NASCAR Cup Series continues at the half-mile Martinsville Speedway this Saturday.

After pit stops, Blaney leads the field on the restart with about 50 laps left. Blaney reported brake vibrations but maintained his lead. Denny Hamlin wins

Starting from the outside row, Denny Hamlin quickly moved to the front of field, passing Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick. He passed Harvick after pushing past Byron. Then he held off the late charge by Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Larson to claim the checkered flag ahead of Hamlin. Hamlin won his 47th Cup Series race win, the most since 2016. Jeff Truex Jr. was also present, as well as Kyle Larson.

This victory was achieved in a year when the Toyota driver had just finished a slow start to his campaign. The race was held at Richmond Raceway. He had been struggling to make it up in the standings. He took advantage of the long green flag run, and used smart tires to dominate the field. He had a strong vehicle and was able pass William Byron after five laps. His victory was his fourth at Richmond. He had not finished in top 10 in seven of his previous races at the track.

Kyle Busch finishes 16th

Kyle Busch will lead the No. 18 M&M'S Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Since joining the team in 2011, Busch has won seven races at Richmond, including the Playoff event last year. At Atlanta Motor Speedway, he finished third. Kyle Busch is ranked eighth in the standings this year. Despite his recent loss, he still has the potential to be a contender in the series.

In his most recent start at Richmond, Kyle Busch finished 16th, just two points off of the lead. This is Busch’s highest Richmond finish, and it marks his sixth top-10 finish across six Xfinity Series races. He is currently a winner, with two top-10 finishes and five DNFs. Allmendinger has been the only active Xfinity Series driver to have at least one top-10 finish at Richmond this season.

Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Jimmie Johnson collides in the Toyota Owners 400 with Dale Earnhartt Jr., and he apologizes. The driver said that his water bottle was lost and that he had missed the spotter's call. Earnhardt had sped off the track after the crash and had no way of stopping before the impact. Dale Earnhardt Jr. did finish the race, however the crash marred his race.

Jimmie Johnson was in the Top 10 for the second consecutive season after the crash. His three previous years had ended in disappointment, as he failed to finish a race due to running out of gas or blowing his engine. He placed ninth at Food City 500 and sixth at Brickyard 400. He also finished eighth at Coca-Cola 600. He also finished 38th at Phoenix. Then, he was in the bottom 5 at the Coke Zero 400/New Hampshire 500. But he qualified to the Chase.
