NASCAR Adds Mexican-Born Driver to Cup Series

NASCAR announced that Daniel Suarez will be racing in the Cup Series in 2021. Justin Marks, a former NASCAR driver as well as co-owner of K&N Pro Series West, formed Trackhouse Racing. The ECR engines will power this team under technical alliance with Richard Childress. The team will also be based out of the Richard Childress racing shop in Welcome North Carolina.

Suarez, a fifth-generation driver who was born in Mexico, is the first to win at NASCAR’s highest levels.

Daniel Suarez was raised in Monterrey Mexico and first became involved in motorsports as a teenager. He went karting with his family as a hobby, but soon caught the racing bug. He was immediately hooked and began to train regularly. Soon, he was a Mexican national karting champion. He competed in the RotaxMAX Challenge Grand Finals in 2004 and also in an Italian competition.

Daniel Suarez was the first Mexican-born driver ever to win a NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway. He led the field for 47 laps and is just 30 years old. Suarez's win marks his first Cup Series victory and makes him the fifth driver born outside the United States to win in the series. His father, Manuel, is a Mexican native.
