NASCAR Points Leaders

auto racing schedule 2020

After a weekend packed with action, it is time to see the nascar points leaders. Which drivers are in the lead now? Will the rest of field catch up? We'll look at Chase Elliott (William Byron), Ross Chastain, Martin Truex Jr. and many more. But who are other drivers leading the points race? Who is the favorite for this title? Who will be the next race winner?

Joe Kosiski

Joe Kosiski, the NASCAR points leader, was still in place at the end of the Division II races at Oglethorpe Raceway Park. He continues to be followed by Shane Riner and Eric Humphries. Riner won his sixth race of the season at Oglethorpe and has seven90 points, while Humphries has 592 points. Kosiski has finally ended his long streak of poor finishes.

Kosiski was a Dodge Weekly Series National Champion twice. He won the Division title in 1986, and the NDWS Championship in 2000. He also holds a record of eight top-five finishes. He is currently the points leader for two tracks. Shane Riner Jr. (NDWS Division II), Pete Anderson Jr.

Shane Riner

Late Model driver Shane Riner of Guyton, Ga., is one of the nation's leading points scorers. Riner, with five72 points, is currently one spot ahead Joe Kosiski (second place, 44). Both drivers have won races this year, and Kosiski is also a winner and has 10 top-five finishes. But Riner has more to offer, as the Oglethorpe Speedway Park Late Model is one of the newest additions to the NASCAR standings.

The father of two daughters, Ashley, 14, and McKenzie, 5, Riner has been in the spotlight for several years. Angeline Riner is an attorney. But racing isn't his only interest. It's easy to understand why he continues to pursue it with his family by his side. The team's success is a reflection of his family's support.

Joey Logano

Joey Logano made a strong start to 2016 despite some challenges. After winning the Martinsville pole, he struggled to finish in the top 11. Joey Logano won Kansas' Sprint Cup All-Star Race, after two consecutive DNFs at Talladega (Kansas) and Kansas. After that, he won the FireKeepers Casino400 before taking 40th place at the Coke Zero400, winning the title at Dover.

Logano was sixth in the race, but was soon dropped to the mid-pack by a speeding penalty. He was able to stay in mid-pack for the rest of the race, but unfortunately crashed into Aric Almirola and Danica Patrick during the final laps. Logano's post-race interview with Danica Patrick was filled by both tears and anxiety after the fiery wreck. Both drivers were badly injured.

Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin, who finished in the top-10 in every race this season is the obvious choice to lead the nascar point championship. He has been consistent in the past several years. He won Loudon's race and finished fourth at New Hampshire. In his career, he has been a top-six finisher on average. His only loss this year was a DNF at Dover, which cost him his best finish of the year.

Kyle Larson is a serious contender to win NASCAR Cup Series champion, but he has not been successful since Kansas. Larson is a winner with one race, and he currently holds a tie with Hamlin for the points standings at nine17 points. Hamlin will not be able to play in the playoffs if Larson wins regular-season points champion.
