Formula racing is an open wheeled, single-seater motorsport. This term was first used to describe single-seater racing regulations that were established after World War II. Although it has been renamed to other forms over the years, the core concept of the term remains unchanged. The cars compete in races across the globe. They are powered by an engine, which is a motor that helps them attain speed.
Formula 5000 Eagle
Bobby Unser drove the Ford 755 for Vern Schuppan to create the first Formula 5000 car. In the first ever Long Beach Grand Prix, the car finished second behind Brian Redman's Lola T332 and was an instant success. The car became one of the most loved Formula 5000 cars ever made. We will be looking at the history of Formula 5000 and how it became the most loved car of all time.
The original Eagles were owned by a group of entrepreneurs that included mobile home tycoon John C Crean and actor James Garner. Although the original plan was to use an AMC motor, the manufacturer pulled out in august 1969. The car was thus not raced in the 1969 season. The first three years after the 1967 season, the team entered a car for Bill Simpson Tasman. In 1970, they entered another car for Dave Jordan, who would go on to win five of the six races in that year. The cars were run by a new owner in the final year of the series, but the car was restored for Pikes Peak.

Stanley-BRM P207 V12 car
Len Terry, who previously worked on the Lotus 38 as well as the first Eagles, designed Stanley-BRM’s P207 V-12 Formula A race car. Len Terry used an aluminium monocoque for the construction of the car with the familiar V12 motor as the stressed member. The radiators were not placed at an angle to the engine, as was the case with earlier Formula A race cars.
Despite losing sponsorship by Owen Organisation, the BRM Team was able continue with a modest amount of money. Because of its small budget, the team was unable to compete in the Grands Prix 1976 season with the P201. However, the team persevered and found a new supporter in Rotary watches, who allowed them to create a brand new car that would be used for the 1977 season.
Stanley-BRM's Lola T192-Chevrolet
Jim Oppenheimer drove Lola T192 Chevrolet seven times in the 1970s to win the SVRA series. This car is very similar to Dan Furey's 1972 SVRA season. Oppenheimer states that the T192 car was created by Craig Bennett. The car was also on display at the Collings Foundation Automotive Collection October 2009.
The Lola T192-Chevrolet was used by Stanley-BRM for Formula A racing in the 1970s. The T192 was specifically designed for single-seat racing. The car was consistently fast in this category and was the fastest car overall in the championship. It won its only race in 1972 at the Portland International Speedway. Leland Sheldon also owned this car.

Lola T192-Chevrolet
Formula A racing saw the T192 as the first car to race in Formula A. The T192 was entered in Formula A racing by Roy Woods Racing, for Bob Ferro. Ferro was already a highly successful dune buggy driver. Bob, who later became Baja Bob, won four Baja 500 race. However, Riverside's first race was marred by a crash at Turn 1 during Heat 2. Ferro and teammates Sam Posey, Follmer and Ferro were killed.
Initial plans for the T192 to enter Formula One were to do so in 1998. But MasterCard pressure forced Lola into a debuting the car sooner. Lola's sponsorship and its membership club were tied to the model. This was problematic for a team in its first year. Ford Cosworth EDV8 V8 engines were used by T192. The team's first season was a disaster.

What type of cars are used in racing cars and why?
The most important thing for any race car driver is speed. It's what makes them move fast. They need to be fast enough for other drivers to catch them, but strong enough so they can keep the lead. This gives them an advantage over the rest of the racers, as they can quickly overtake other drivers at high speeds and pull away from them again when it's not their turn.
Lightweight cars are often the fastest. This allows them to accelerate quickly, and gain great speed. They also have less power, so they travel a lot faster. Therefore, they must use energy efficiently.
Engines power most modern-day racing cars. These are similar to those found in normal passenger vehicles. These engines run on compressed oxygen, and not petrol. This is because petrol isn't powerful enough to provide enough power to make a car go very fast.
