Bowman led 110 laps. His time was 8.9 seconds faster that his nearest competitor Kyle Busch. Bowman advanced to Round of Eight. Kyle Busch finished second and Kurt Busch finished third. Ryan Blaney was the only driver to finish outside the top eight, due to a loose wheel. Bowman is a very good racer, but the competition will be tough this year.

Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch were the winners of this weekend's auto club speedway. Kurt Busch, a rookie at the track, took the lead on the first lap and hung on to it until the very end. Kyle Larson fought him for the lead, but Busch was able to get the lead and clear Larson out the turn 4. Busch won this win at Auto Club Speedway for the second time in succession.
