FAQ

What cars are used to race cars and why?

Speed is essential for race car drivers. Speed is what drives them fast. They must be fast enough that they catch up to other drivers and strong enough to maintain the lead. This gives them an advantage over other racers as they can overtake others at high speeds and then pull away from them again when they're not looking.

The fastest cars are usually very lightweight. This allows them accelerate quickly and gain speed. This also means that they have less power, which restricts how far they are able to travel in a short time. They need to make efficient use of energy.

Engines power most modern-day racing cars. These engines work in a similar way to normal passenger vehicles. But instead of using petrol, these engines run on compressed air. This is because petrol doesn't have enough power to make cars go very fast.

How can race car drivers prepare for a race.

Most race car drivers warm up their engines before the race.

This involves running their engines over a period of time.

Once they're fully prepared, they can start the race.

Why does race car driver wear special clothing?

Many race car drivers sport special clothing.

These clothes help keep them cool when they're racing.

The fabric stops sweat dripping from their bodies.

It also protects their skin from being damaged by the wind.

Where can race car drivers learn their skills?

Race car drivers learn about driving through different methods. Many learn how to drive a regular vehicle. Then they move on to a simulator. A simulator works like a virtual reality game. You sit inside a room and control a vehicle.

Then, you will be able use your skills in real life. You'll be taught how to maneuver around corners and turn sharp bends.

This will allow you to compete with other drivers.

How many people are involved with making a race car?

Most race car manufacturers employ many workers.

They make parts such as tires, suspension systems and body panels.
