Kurt Busch clinches playoff spot

Kurt Busch has secured a playoff spot for the 2018 NASCAR championship. Only one race remains in the regular season. Due to a concussion-like symptom, the two-time champion had not raced in three races since July 17, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He had previously declared that he would be unable to compete in the regular season. Busch also had a medical waiver that allowed his skipping of the race due to health concerns.

Busch maintained his lead in the second stage. Elliott was second after the first stage. However, he finished behind Busch during the second stage. Until an incident with Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch maintained the lead in the third stage. Both cars were on the outside of the track after the incident, but Busch was able back up to the lead lap in the second caution. After taking the lead in the final stage, Kyle Busch was finally able to secure the championship four.
